Our story

1. Inspiration
Our jewelry is inspired by social themes from around the globe. We take to the streets, explore our personal networks, and scour the internet to uncover the unique stories of people from diverse backgrounds. These stories serve as the foundation for our designs, transforming personal stories into beautiful pieces. Some of the most beautiful stories never get told. What if your story was always with you?

2. Design
Our debut collection reflects our own stories. We chose to begin close to home, challenging ourselves to share our personal experiences openly. This process brought us to our first three designs:
- Bolt & Nut Necklace: Inspired by Leila’s journey of growing up in two different cultures. This necklace symbolizes finding your own balance and twist between two distinct worlds.
- Safety Pins Necklace: A reflection of Milou’s adoption from China. This design represents protection, safety, and the deep emotional bond between parents and their child.
- Zipper Necklace: A piece that grew out of Alysia's experience of being bullied and not being able to stand up for herself. The necklace symbolizes how prejudice and discrimination can cut people off from opportunities.
3. Production
We partnered with a skilled goldsmith in the Netherlands to bring our designs to life. The technical drawings for each piece were meticulously created in-house to ensure that our vision translates into stunning final products.
Choosing a local producer in the Netherlands was a deliberate decision driven by our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Efficient Use of Resources: Dutch producers employ advanced technologies that minimize material waste.
Short Supply Chain: By producing locally, we reduce the environmental impact of transportation and enhance the transparency of our production process.
Circular Economy: Many Dutch businesses innovate with sustainable practices, emphasizing material reuse to support a circular economy.
- SDG 13: Climate Action
Reduced CO2 Emissions: Local production significantly lowers carbon emissions due to shorter transportation distances.
Renewable Energy: Dutch producers often utilize renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power in their manufacturing processes.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals
Collaborative Supply Chains: Partnering with a local producer allows us to build strong, sustainable relationships essential to achieving shared goals.
Responsible Partnerships: Local production makes it easier to maintain ethical and environmentally conscious supply chains.
